    The Associate Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) plays an integral role in supporting the Medical Affairs team. The incumbent will help refine MTPA’s HEOR strategy and tools, validate the HEOR cost impact model, and assist in design, development and implementation of various research projects (e.g., Real-world Evidence (RWE), Budget Impact Models, etc.). These studies will help shape the company’s health outcomes strategies and ultimately impact bottom line business performance. Responsibilities include identification of appropriate data sources, design and execution of stand-alone studies, compiling high-quality, well-written summaries and communicating findings to various audiences through formal presentations.  


    • Evaluates and selects appropriate data sources (e.g., existing healthcare database, primary data collection, vendor data, etc.), and acquires and stores the data for the project.
    • Collaborates closely with MTPA colleagues to incorporate and leverage the company’s clinical development studies.
    • Develops study analysis plans based on study concept(s) and database specification(s).
    • Conducts appropriate statistical analyses using company-approved tools and methods. As appropriate, recommends new methodologies and tools.
    • Reviews data output and interprets results to develop actionable strategies.
    • Supervises and evaluates the analyses performed by vendors to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the deliverables.
    • Performs literature reviews and produces report(s) on the findings.
    • Uses study results to develop and deliver compelling presentations to internal stakeholders and external audiences (e.g., payers, hospitals, medical congresses, etc.). Presentations will support product(s) before and after regulatory approval.
    • Assists in the development of an external steering committee to review publications. Presents/defends research to committee with the goal of generating a steady flow of high quality, peer-reviewed publications that promote the company’s reputation.  .
    • Provides timely insights of competitive intelligence and best practices relevant to HEOR strategies.
    • Functions as an internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for HEOR issues and serves on various internal cross-functional teams.
    • Performs other duties as required.


    • Master’s in Public Health (MPH); a Master’s degree in Health Economics, Epidemiology or similar is also acceptable  
    • PharmD is a plus.
    • At least 7 years of pharmaceutical industry experience which provided a broad understanding of the development pipeline, medical affairs, pharmaceutical marketing and market access.
    • Minimum of 4-5 years of HEOR experience which provided sound technical/analytical experience.
    • Proven track record of contributing to a high-impact HEOR program (e.g., real world evidence (RWE), market access, peer-reviewed publications, etc.)
    • Strong analytical mindset; demonstrated knowledge of statistical methods and tools common to health economics.
    • Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization and with external groups; demonstrates strong customer service orientation.
    • Well-organized and skilled at managing multiple projects to timeline and budget; formal project management training and/or certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
    • Self-starter, hard-working and
    • Strong technical writing skills. Track record of peer-reviewed publications is a plus.
    • Excellent formal presentation skills.
    • Maintains optimism and energy in the face of change and adversity; proven ability to collaborate and problem
    • Willingness to travel 25% domestically and with potential for some minimal international travel.
    • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
    • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment, i.e. computers, phones, copy machine/printer
    • Ability to carry, handle and reach for objects
    • Ability to lift and pull up to 15 pounds
