The Manager, Social Media and Communications will contribute to the development and implementation of communications strategies that support brand objectives in collaboration with the commercial, medical, research and development, and advocacy teams. Manage corporate and brand-related social media tactical implementation and provide writing and editing support for various communications materials. The Manager will perform across the full product life cycle: pre-launch activities, communications material creation, market landscape research, planning and program implementation in the United States and Canada. The role requires close collaboration with other Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Canada functional areas, patients, caregivers, advocates, HCPs/KOLs, creative agencies and other external partners as well as colleagues of MTPA’s affiliated companies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development of digital/social media strategy and editorial content calendar, working closely with an external agency to facilitate updates and postings to feature and promote MTPA stories and spokespersons.
  • Manage ongoing influencer mapping and monthly analytics reports to ensure a steady stream of fresh and relevant content; solicit ideas regularly from cross-functional teams and external sources: communications landscape trend analysis, identification of new data sources and tools, etc.
  • Support planning and managing the development and execution of pre-launch, launch and post-launch corporate communications strategies and programs for specific approved and/or potential future indications.
  • Provide writing and editing support for various communications materials (press releases, QAs, fact sheets, internal communications, corporate presentations), as needed, for external, internal and/or digital/social media use, including proper referencing and securing appropriate internal approvals, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the publications team to stay on top of upcoming data publications and presentations at medical congresses and to help drive the promotional plan.
  • Attend healthcare industry events/medical meetings, as required, and effectively represents the company to a broad audience including patients, caregivers, advocates and HCPs.
  • Partner with MTP-CA colleagues as needed to plan and manage assigned public affairs and communication projects and initiatives.
  • Support the development of internal communications programming and channels to bring our science, values and culture to life.
  • Develop new or enhances existing templates, communication standards and materials; applies same while providing guidance and strategic communications planning support to colleagues at all levels
  • Oversee media monitoring reporting and tracking KPIs with recommendations for improvement/optimization: competitive communications share of voice analysis, identification of industry best practices, identification of potential creative partners, etc.
  • Manage and monitor PR digital budget.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization to support collaboration; work with freelance consultants and agencies, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related discipline is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a communications or public relations and/or social media role
  • Healthcare industry experience (either public relations agency or in-house biotechnology pharmaceutical company) preferred.
  • Experience with managing social media campaigns, including X (Twitter)/LinkedIn community management.
  • Required to travel 10-20%
  • Proficiency in understanding website traffic metrics and Google Analytics
  • Demonstrates strong writing skills to develop a broad range of communication materials (e.g., press releases, messaging, Q&A documents, media pitches, PowerPoint presentations, executive profiles and internal
  • communications from leadership)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, establishing and maintaining effective and efficient channels of communication with new media and opinion leaders.
  • Self-motivated with outstanding interpersonal, team, and collaboration skills
  • Proven verbal communication skills aimed at executives and a variety of audiences.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $149,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.

 

This position is eligible to participate in our annual Short-Term Incentive (STI) program.  Specific information about the plan including eligibility rules and target, will be furnished upon hire.
